OpenAI, the tech pioneer behind ChatGPT, has announced a significant development that could reshape the landscape of AI chatbots. The company is launching ChatGPT Enterprise, a business-oriented tier of its AI chatbot service, available from today.
The Enterprise Project
The ChatGPT Enterprise project, which has been in development for less than a year, received collaborative input from over 20 companies spanning diverse industries and sizes. This new iteration of ChatGPT, a remarkable advancement since its inception, offers users access to GPT-4 with unrestricted usage, achieving performance levels up to twice as fast as prior versions. Additionally, API credits are included in the enterprise package, enhancing the chatbot‘s versatility and usability.
OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer, Brad Lightcap, informed CNBC that the pricing structure for ChatGPT Enterprise will be customized to cater to individual company use cases and sizes. Notable beta users of this enterprise tier included Block, Canva, and The Estée Lauder Companies.

Another Milestone by OpenAI
This latest development follows OpenAI’s substantial progress this year, marked by Microsoft’s augmented investment of $10 billion and a successful $300 million share sale. The valuation of the startup, estimated to be between $27 billion and $29 billion, has positioned it as a significant player in the AI domain. ChatGPT itself experienced unprecedented growth, attracting over 100 million monthly active users within two months of its launch.
More than 80% of Fortune 500 companies have actively engaged with ChatGPT, indicating its wide-ranging appeal and utility.
The Features
Notable features that distinguish ChatGPT Enterprise from the consumer-focused version include the ability for clients to input their company data. This enables them to customize ChatGPT to align with their respective industries and use cases. Although certain functionalities are not immediately accessible in the initial release, this feature enhances the chatbot’s adaptability and relevance to specific business contexts.
OpenAI’s roadmap also includes a future offering called ChatGPT Business, catering to smaller teams. However, no specific timeline for its introduction was provided.
OpenAI’s Strategic Vision
The phased approach of unveiling ChatGPT Enterprise ahead of ChatGPT Business underscores OpenAI’s strategic intent. Lightcap mentioned that this approach grants the company more hands-on interaction with teams, providing insights into deployment processes and real-world challenges.
In terms of privacy and data security, OpenAI assured users that it doesn’t utilize company data or conversations for training purposes. Encryption measures protect users’ conversation data both during transmission and when stored.
